Griselinia littoralis

Griselinia littoralis

Griselinia littoralis is a fast-growing, large evergreen shrub with glossy, bright green foliage that forms a dense, attractive hedge and an excellent backdrop for other plants. It establishes quickly, responds well to clipping, and is well-suited to coastal locations. Grow in full sun to light shade, in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil; provide shelter from cold, drying winds. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. If left untrimmed it can reach an approximate mature height of about 8 m with a spread of around 4 m.

Feeding time: spring
Trimming time: late spring and late summer

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
