Griselinia littoralis
Griselinia littoralis
Griselinia littoralis is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub forming a dense, glossy, bright-green hedge that makes an excellent year-round screen and a fresh backdrop for other planting. It establishes quickly, clips cleanly for formal lines, and is well suited to coastal sites where it tolerates salt-laden winds; it holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. In favourable conditions it can reach around 8 m in height and about 4 m in spread at maturity. Best grown in full sun to light shade in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, with shelter from the coldest, drying winds.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
