Hedera helix Gold Child

Hedera helix 'Goldchild' is a self-clinging, evergreen ivy prized for its neat, variegated foliage, with small, lobed leaves broadly edged in golden-yellow that mature to creamy tones around a grey-green centre. Ideal for covering walls, fences, obelisks and frames, it is versatile in sun or shade and thrives in most moist, well-drained soils. This climber is self-clinging and can attach itself to suitable walls or structures as it grows. A slower-growing form of ivy, it is well suited to tidy, controlled coverage or container training, and can be lightly trimmed to maintain a crisp outline. Expect an eventual height of about 2.5–4m and a similar spread of roughly 2.5–4m when given suitable support.

This climbing plant has been trained onto a supporting frame to create a neat, well-shaped specimen that is ready for planting. As it grows, new shoots can be guided and secured to continue developing its natural shape.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall).
